It looks like the horror genre is breaking out a big ol’ case of Member Berries and feeding them to us over the next couple years. I, for one, am totally okay with this and will eat the hell out of some sweet sweet Member Berries.
Most horror fans are at the very least familiar with the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books by Alvin Schwartz. Originally published in 1984 they pretty much started the trend of marketing horror to kids. I don’t think it’s outlandish to say that without these books we wouldn’t have gotten things like Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark; so it’s only fitting that after the latter two have gotten big screen treatments that this iconic work be adapted as well.As if the fact that the movie is happening wasn’t cool enough it has some pretty big names attached to it as well. André Øvredal, director of TrollHunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe, has signed on to direct the upcoming adaptation with Guillermo del Toro attached as a producer. This film has some serious potential at this point; The Autopsy of Jane Doe was a really good film, TrollHunter is a fucking classic, and del Toro is nothing short of a legend. Be on the lookout for more news about this one!
